Dream Notebooks

 11/18

So many dreams to report, and I scribbled them in my dream notebook in the dark, so it’s like automatic writing and will require some deciphering and translating. First, Tim was here in the dining room and admired my high school class ring that I wasn’t wearing. Ron had an adorable buff colored rat terrier who looked like he had a mustache. The word, “steam”, is written in my dream book, but I can’t remember what it referred to: some sort of cleaning, I think. Maybe Frankie, the cat, had to be steam cleaned, but I can’t be sure.

Then I was walking my old grade school route to school, my old girlfriend, Stephanie Schwerian, was sitting on the steps. She wore a soft powder blue sweater, and her hair was longer. She mentioned something to me about “woke ass Irish” according to my dream script. I’m not sure what that refers to, but I think it had something to do with my tall dark haired boyfriend, Brian, who I also used to work with in a bar in the South Side. It wasn’t grade school, it was an enormous industrial high school, very stainless steel. I was driving my car, then, and Brian was in the passenger seat. There was a naked pink pearlescent Monster High doll with wavy blonde hair who was positioned backwards with her ass against the dashboard. Somehow she was interfering with my driving. “Gas tank” is scribbled in the notes, then, “stop”. I think I had told Brian that my gas gauge was broken, and he had me stop.

Then I dreamed of a broken glass cabinet in the bathroom that hung over the sink.

Finally, the show stopper: I was an English teacher and was hosting a big Halloween party. I had rented a hall. What was more, there had been a national essay contest sponsored by somebody, and people that weren’t even my students, like Theresa, had entered. I had given a guy with auburn hair a cassette tape which I thought had old Smiths cover songs that my friends and I had performed. I got the results of the essay contest and Theresa had won first prize, $ 2,700, that in the dream I kept wondering if it was $27,000. An old student of mine, Allen, I think, had also won second or third prize, $2,600. While I was in the bathroom I could hear the tape playing, and it wasn’t me and my friends, rather old Smiths. There was a dark haired girl in there with me who was kind of picking on me for that. I was not perturbed. I sort of joked with the guy about thinking it had been us. Then, a girl, who looked like his twin sister in a lace blouse, showed me a white chandelier type of necklace that she wore around her neck. It was for holding your joint, and as she held it between her fingers she sang a little supposed Smiths song all about it. Theresa was there, and I was thinking she should have it for winning the contest. I was also thinking that Ron really could sing like Morrissey and suggested to the guy that Ron and I should sing a cover song. I awoke with, “Hang the DJ”, playing in my head.

Kudos to my dream notebook. If not for it I only would’ve remembered the final dream.

I haven't blogged my dreams in over a month. They've been going directly to Dana's Dreams Two. I started that back in June, and I'm around page forty-five. You can get Dana's Dreams here:

It is available as a paperback or ebook. It has some watercolors and photographs. So far Dana's Dreams Two does not. I don't know if it will, so it might be a lot more reasonable in paperback than the first. They are big books.

Dreams 10/12

I thought I'd foiled my dream forgetfulness by leaving the closet light on and sleeping with a pad and pen at hand. If only I'd learn to decipher the dream script I'd be set: working on it.

First I dreamed of Matt Koett again, he'll be pleased to know. I've been told time and again by roosters to stop naming in my blog. I usually don't include surnames, and to avoid the commies I make 💩 up, (Bitch with the Hammer, Killary, Oogie Booger, Michael, Kid Smeller, Cabala Embarrass), but I don't have to be persnickety when it comes to Matt, never have. So back to the dream, or what I can make out of it. I was at home with my parents getting dressed in my childhood bedroom. Matt came over, and we were all going out to eat. Now, the final clue says "Darcr"... Oh! I just figured it out! Yes, it says Darcy. We met Dame Darcy while we were out, and Matt fell in love. It's nice to go back in time with Matt. I've always been good at deciphering scribbles and pronouncing names, why I was a hit as an English teacher besides being so much fun.

Anyway, the next dream was not fun, and what's more, I think I've dreamed it before. I was in the cellar of a corporation where I worked, I came down stairs and saw a blonde woman with a bobbed haircut dressed in blue work coveralls standing against an open stainless steel door. When she saw that I had busted her she became small and clay and tucked herself away in a plastic to go container, only I grabbed it, opened it, and squeezed her into mush. Too bad for me one of her many partners in crime saw me do it and called out for help. Now they were after me. They were all dressed in the blue coveralls. Still holding fast to the container and Play-doh mush girl I scampered away, but they were in pursuit. The place was very industrial: stainless steel, blue plastic, with a concrete floor. I had reached a metal fire escape outside. The first to catch up with me was a girl with a little brown ponytail. Here it says, "koaong"? No idea. Anyway, she was trying to kill me, they were shouting about what I'd done to Play-doh Girl, and didn't want it to get out. I hit Ponytail Girl in the head, hard, with a big rock and she fell from the fire escape. The chase persisted. Each time one would get close to nabbing me I'd disappear. I think I was beginning to do this lucidly as I try to pull myself from nightmares especially when I'm in mortal danger. There is another word I can't make out, "seinal"? Maybe it's signal as they were calling out to each other. I'll work on it. Maybe it's a Dream Word like the Dream People. It's an interesting new twist. Back to the dream, my pursuers were all men at this point, and I'd pop out of sight anytime they became too much of a threat. The final one was Matt Czuchry. He was standing against a set of lockers singing a song. The song went something like this: the girl you didn't get doesn't love me. The chorus sang, "evil grows". And, some people wonder, but no. I had nothing to drink. These dreams are the result of being out of wine. My favorite, Mad Hairy Fella, El Goru, from Spain, is in season. Yes, I’ve strayed a bit, which usually doesn’t happen, but it’s relative.

Dreams 8/31

First I dreamed I was in Venice. Then, Theresa, Rick, some Dream People, and I were on a road trip to Gettysburg when we stopped to stay in an old two storey house with white siding; it needed a paint job. We were getting out of the car, which I think was a red SUV, and Theresa was talking about the house. It was getting dark. Inside the place was a dump, and a family was living there: an older mother with her three grown children, two daughters and a son. The oldest girl was taking a bath when we got there, I'd guess she was thirty with short brown hair. The accommodations were adjoining rooms with dirty clothes scattered about. I could hear the youngest daughter with her husband in the next room. He was trying to talk her into sex, but she wasn't having it. I got up because I couldn't sleep and walked about. One of my male companions was blaming the stay on my friend's husband Greg. I was sitting there thinking that Theresa had booked the room, and that Greg wasn't even there, so how was it his fault? I went back to my room. The big dirty green sunken tub where the daughter had been bathing when we got there was empty now. Rick and his girlfriend, Katie, were sitting in a small square bathtub with a white fence around it. Katie was wearing glasses and a white bathing cap. Rick was giving her a hard time about something when he told me it was his aunt Mary Anne's house. I was surprised. It was now morning and I went outside with the brother of the house who had dark hair and was in his twenties or thirties. We were climbing over some large yellow boulders that seemed to be sandstone when I rolled over and woke up.

Dreams 8/24

Another dream where I was rooming with Adinda again at Princeton. This one began in the morning after my first class when I'd realized that I'd lost my schedule and had no idea where I was going. It was a dusky morning, I had a big bag and trekked back to my dorm room looking for my books. Adinda was there sitting cross legged on her bed. The far wall was bookshelves, but mine was empty. Adinda said you know who must've stolen them referring to her old roommate, Joanna. I wandered back out onto the grounds, pretty aimlessly, not knowing where I was going. I was thinking about breakfast and maybe some shopping for books, mostly. I was feeling a little sick and a lot guilty about missing classes. I knew I had three more. There were crowded rummage sorts of shops on campus. There was a brunette who was a Dream Person friend of mine in the one shop that had used books in the front laid out on long tables. She mentioned the one, knowing it was one of mine and free. Although mine had been hardback, this was a used dog eared thick paperback with a pencil scribble in the front. It was titled Faust and had a hunter green leafy background with a closeup oil painting of a faun, a mythological satyr. I put it in my tapestry bag, left it on the floor, and moved on. I found another of my books in hardback, something like Lee Iacoca but not quite. I left it. Now I found a shop selling beautiful hand knit hats. They were ruffled with knit roses, in creams and lilacs. I asked the clerk the price, and she said they were twenty-five dollars. I told her I wanted the purple one and put it on. I roamed across the hall to a stairway painted with lush abstract murals of trees, touched them, and went downstairs to the dining hall that had several rooms full of houseplants like spider plants. I was thinking it was too early for lunch and went back outside. I pondered my classes and how I already had more than one degree so probably should just drop them. I went back to my room and told Adinda I was just going to drop my classes, and she got upset and said that I couldn't because she wouldn't have any other roommate.

Dreams 7/7

This dream took place at a large outdoor summer party. There were picnic tables set up outside. The house seemed to be a small ranch. I think I was pretty young. I was in the house playing when my friends DJ and his wife arrived. DJ had a plastic printed gift bag for me. Inside there was a square glittery sticker book with WOW! on the front cover and a lot of loose Barbie doll clothes. I thanked him. His wife was not the wife I know but a fat green woman with a constant scowl. I was in what might've been a laundry room with some other young boys. I had a small fishtank on a low shelf that was crammed with fish including three large albino cory catfish. Somehow I was transferring the fish from the small tank to a big tank on a top shelf. Above the large tank there was square lattice work that appeared to be woven from jute. There were tiny dwarf frogs climbing there. Now I was on a sun porch talking to some women who might've been gossiping. I think we were eating cake. Anyway, they were talking about my friend Tracey who was at the party. One was talking about Tracey's husband's mistress. She said that he had called it off with her. Another asked what had happened? The gossip said that the mistress had killed herself. Now, Tracey was in the adjoining kitchen looking in a cupboard. Her husband grabbed her and beat her head in against the cupboard door with a fist sized rock as if he was hammering a nail.

I had forgotten my dream from a couple of days ago, but I think it concerned my ex-sister-in-law. These are some of my regular Dream People: DJ, Denise, Tracey, and Karyn. There are others including people I do not know in real life but visit my dreams.

Dreams 7/4

This dream took place in Gettysburg in the past. I was younger, in my twenties. By my well made cotton eyelet skirts and top I'd say somewhere around 1850. I started off in a hotel with a man. I think it might've supposed to have been my honeymoon. Somehow I'd run away from there with a young woman and wound up in another inn with her. It was a nice suite with several adjoining rooms and a wooden chest. She was romantically inclined, but I was not. She asked why I never touched her seriously. I left her to visit my childhood friend, Bobby, who I presume was staying in yet another inn with his wife who was not there at the time. I was going through the top right-hand drawer of a wardrobe that had a green silk petticoat and a black strapless bra that I took out and glanced over. Bobby said it was his wife's but that I could have it. I returned it to the drawer. He also said he did not understand why I ran off and married a woman, nobody did.

Not entirely sure if another school friend, Nick, was the man that I'd run away from at the beginning, or if he was part of another earlier dream that I've forgotten. I do know I dreamed of him last night. Don't know why, just like with The Dream People, I tend to dream about certain people regularly. A lot of them were just acquaintances, we were never that close, at least not on this plane. It's interesting to say the least. I think emotions, maybe even hidden ones, run deeper than we believe, both ways. At any rate, I wish all of my Dream Peeps happiness whether I know them or not. I bet there will be a volume two to Dana's Dreams in a couple years at this rate.

Dreams 7/1 & The Dream People

This was a long dream, so I will see what I can recollect. Dreamed that I was younger, living with a young man with sandy hair. He was tan and buff. I remember giving him a hug. He was dressed in blue jeans and nothing else. It was an apartment building with more than one floor. The landlord was an older white woman who wore her hair up with pins. After some trouble with her I jumped her in the hall, rolled her to the floor, and warned her to stay away "from my man". There are fuzzy spots, but I remember that later she had a stall of books for sale in the lobby which was full of sunlight due to walls of windows. I had quite a thick paperback in hand. It had a white cover with red print. Pretty sure it was a magic book and might've even had an extra paper between its pages. It had the price written in pencil on the first page. I think it was forty-six dollars. After a bit of deliberation I paid her for the book. She was surprised and called me by name saying something like, "Dana" I was wrong about you. Something to that effect.

Amendment: I was just reading this dream to Ron and wondering about The Dream People as I often do. I wrote a bit about them in Dana's Dreams wondering are they real? Are they dead or alive? I can't be certain, but I think they are both. I believe the dead visit our dreams, of this I'm pretty sure. I have had too many instances of personal proofs to deny them. But, I just had the revelation that with the living, sometimes, under certain circumstances, I cannot know, perhaps emotional; we can get our wires crossed and tap into each other like a telephone line even if it be on the other side of the world.
