Crystal Cave

  I was in such a sad state when I left for work this morning. The gathering gloom was gone by the time that I reached the inn. I had to cover miniature golf and had a wonderful time with the kids, reading Poldark, and chatting with Mike about the ghosts. I was finally able to snap some pictures of my favorite spots too. The mini golf shed smells like camp. 

 

Gathering Gloom 10/3

   

  Hey, Gloomer, it's always a good time getting to see my favorite band, The Gathering Gloom, at The Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe. I didn't get to ride the train from Reading or stay at the haunted inn, maybe next year. I did get to dance all night and sing "Why Can't I Be You?" to the lead singer, Matt. I'll take it. Plus I got a new bumper sticker to go along with Ron Paul REVOLution, Arrest Fauci, and Hindrance and Perfidia.

The Gathering Gloom has become one of my favorite bands, such a good time. This is the second time we were lucky enough to catch them at the Mauch Chunk Opera, a venue we've grown to love since the first time we saw a magic lantern show there many moons ago. Had to make a last minute wardrobe adjustment with a hole under the arm of my thirty-year-old top, but kept the pants I got at Contempo Casuals on sale at the mall in my twenties. Yes, they're tighter than when I wore them to see the real Cure in my thirties, working on that. Dancing tonight didn't hurt. Funny thing but while upstairs I opened the scrapbook right to when Jonathan Frid, aka Barnabas Collins, was there. Seems he was working on a film in the Packer mansion, think North & South. Got a tee shirt that is purple and black with trees, crows, and a cat. It says Okay Gloomer. Some queer told me I was a wonderful dancer. Can't do much better than that.

The Gathering Gloom & Caligula Blushed 1/27 Mauch Chunk

The Mauch Chunk Opera House never lets us down, we see a lot of cover bands there like, The DOORS, Fleetwood Mac, and REM, but tonight the double feature of The Smiths and The Cure was extra special. Caligula Blushed finished with Big Mouth Strikes Again and There is a Light that Never Goes Out. That had me dancing, but The Gathering Gloom opened with Fascination Street and Lullabye, oh, my ghoul. For sure I was transported back to high school. There was a lady there that looked like Brienne from Game of Thrones, only twenty years older. Brienne is the only character I care for. I think she's kick ass. Who knew Penicillin went so well with cabernet? Thanks, Theresa for the groovy Christmas pants, they're perfect for dancing. Guess who is there March 1 and 2? Soulshine, (Allman Brothers).
