Dreams 3/6

3/6

Somehow my first dream snippet was lost. The second took place by a pond in spring. A young, naked, Barbara Eden plucked some black downy feathers and tossed them to the wind. She reappeared, lying down on her back in the moss. Black feathers and down filled in all around her until she became a great black water bird like a swan. I got very little sleep thanks to Arthur and Frankie with his wand. He locked himself in the cellar dragging it behind him.

Dreams: 3/3

 3/3

Well, it wasn’t the corn chowder! I have loads of dreams to report. The first one took place in a lodge in the country and starred Ron. I was shopping for eggs and pushing a little buggy. The women that worked there laughed at me, and I soon discovered why. There were all kinds of eggs: big, small, brown, pink, and pale green. I tried to put the long blue egg carton in my buggy, but it wouldn’t fit.

Next, I was at a lake with a boy. He had a worm at the base of his head behind his neck which caused his spinal cord to be crossed and tied like a helix.

The soundtrack began with the third dream: Air Supply’s “Sweet Dreams”. It took place in a barn store with four kittens. They all were fluffy with long hair, Persian-like. Three of them were tortoiseshell colors and were climbing up a cord like monkeys. The fourth was red, white, and blue, amazing, like a catcake.

Dream number four took place in a splendid old house. It might’ve been a boarding house; there were a lot of young women staying there. I had given a heavy-set dark-haired girl a catalog which she was so happy about that she hugged me. I think that she was planning to start a small business. I moved to a living room where a tall blonde Canadian man in a suit that looked like something that Elton John would wear was speaking to a group of musicians, all men. His coiffure had to have been a wig, it looked like Dolly Parton’s. He said, “What a house!” He asked me if I had ever seen such a house before, referring to the decor. I told him that once I was in a house with six drummers. He was not impressed.

They just kept getting better. I have six pages of scribbly notes to go on, and the fifth dream was my favorite. It starred Theresa, and I feel as if she has really visited with me. I sent out Thomas’s birthday gift yesterday, a copy of DOC that he should’ve gotten for Christmas, lost at my brother’s, since Theresa never came to pick it up. She was really acting up, the old Theresa, I knew, before life sucked the soul from her. We were shopping in an exclusive and very expensive gift shop full of glass cases, shelves, and delicate precious things. There were miniature fairy rooms, dolls, and furniture. I was thinking about asking the price of a small wooden chicken and a tiny porcelain fairy. Theresa was at a huge old-school Halloween mask rack. She wanted the Wednesday Addams mask at the top, and said, “I have an idea.” She wanted me to climb up the rack, but when I wouldn’t she started laughing and shaking the rack.

In the final dream I was with Ron in a strange dark shopping center. It wasn’t a mall or a market, something entirely different, more like Epcot Center only less glamorous. I think that my parents were around because I had a ton of left-over fried food like chicken fingers and french fries with gravy, in the biggest doggy bag ever. It was plastic, like a bag, very colorful and printed, (there were mermaids at the top), and looked like a large suitcase. I was trying to figure out how it opened at the top. There were two flaps to tear and reinsert. There were a couple of siblings, probably in their twenties, with dark hair, maybe Spanish. They were begging, sitting at a small table set with glasses of water. I said that the boy was a motherfucker. The girl was pretty and embarrassed. I told her that she wasn’t a motherfucker. Then I walked home in the dark. I passed by a crowded, lit tavern where I was talking about Shiner, out loud, to myself, before remembering that he was dead. When I got home I expected to find Ron. Instead, my ex, Paul, came out from under the stairs wearing a black band t-shirt like he wouldn’t be caught dead in. He was working in a shop. He said, “It’s me.”

It was a record night for dreams. I had been watching Grantchester when I fell asleep, but I think these were more inspired by New Castle After Dark’s Images from 1972 starring Susannah York.

Dreams: 2/18

 2/18

The new moon meant massive dreaming for me! First, a horror: I was lying on the couch, here, watching television. An adorable tiny white lion cub, complete with a mane, jumped up on the couch with me. Then, his father, who was also white, strutted into the room followed by a white bull African elephant who gored the father and child. I cried over the bloodied cub.

Then Ron and I moved into an enormous apartment building. I had to go shopping but didn’t know where my car was parked. Ron told me that it was on the third or fifth floor of the attached parking garage. I told him about the dream with the elephant and lions. I went to the fifth floor first; there were concrete steps. There were loads of people that I had to climb over including a teenage white girl with sandy hair who was wrapped up in a handmade afghan, reading. I could not find my car and wandered over to an old-fashioned elevator decked out in red Persian rugs. I decided not to use it and went to the fifth floor. There was a room with a small court in session that I did not disturb. I passed an old organ against the wall. In a lobby was a display of gorgeous flowering aquatic plants in a large tank of sparkling water. I took a yellow pamphlet concerning them. A small girl carrying a Wendy Lawton doll in a box stopped and asked about Frankie. She said that she had a friend in Whitaker who had told her all about him and that she was from Pittsburgh. Just then a huge black and white bob tailed cat, big as a sheepdog, jumped up and gave her a warm hug. A blonde woman came out from her apartment talking about the cat. She was wearing turquoise silk Chinese capri pants with a flouncy blouse. I followed her into her apartment. It was very messy, dirty. She stood in front of a full-length mirror and applied blue gel beneath her eyes, really rubbing it in. Suddenly her face looked like a dinosaur with stripes of yellow and green colors across her nose. I told her that I liked her pants, and she said something about everybody doing tai-chi. I left her apartment and could hear the song “Me and the Devil” playing over a speaker. I went outside down a few cement steps and into the mud where there were three little dogs; one of them was called Arthur. There was an older woman out there talking about all of the dead Indians. I went back up to our large empty apartment that was painted all white and in need of a paint job. I told Ron that the place was a dump and that I couldn’t find my car.

Dreams 1/13

In my first dream I was surprised that Theresa was sitting at the table. Her hair was dark, and she wore glasses. I was so happy and astounded that I played at small talk before asking her what had happened. I was about to burst into tears when Ron and Steve came in. I was trying to make coffee, but there was an overflow with the coffee maker. Steve wore dark glasses and was sitting on a couch that does not exist in this house. It might’ve been my mother’s floral couch from the old house on Donna Avenue. I was calling Steve, Scott. A young bride and groom joined us, just married. They were on a bicycle. The bride had long dark hair and wore a purple floral maxi dress that looked like something from the early seventies. She had a little veil.

Ron and I lived in a big old empty house in the second dream. He said that something was going on, and it wasn’t good. We went outside; the sky was shocking blue. There were big metal clips in the sky. That’s what we noticed first as we walked up the road with our little robot, about the size of a lap dog, who followed along. Then we saw a massive aircraft with three warheads. We turned around and headed back to the house. We were trying to be nonchalant, but I hurried the little robot along. It was red and blue and almost looked like a bowling bag. There were aliens with orange squid heads in long blue robes walking along, and the sky was filling up fast with little aircraft. I was pretty scared. When we were back inside the house, I opened up my white plastic dollhouse. I was eating some crushed crackers and dried petals that were tucked inside the dollhouse. Ron asked if I could eat them. I was trying to make us small enough that we could hide in the dollhouse.

Dreams 12/19

12/19

My first dream took place in the Dark Ages within a fort where we were being assaulted by demonic monsters. Each time that I’d grab a weapon, whether a spear, sword, or other, something would happen to it, so that it was useless. The spear tips would break off, the swords would warp into a soft mess, and even my favorite make-shift weapons became child proof. Most of the battles seemed to occur within lofts and barns with straw floors.

Then I was inside a colorful old house. Dame Darcy was there. The walls were painted with murals in soft romantic hues. There was a trap door up on the wall behind the fireplace that I was trying to access but couldn’t. The same demonic monsters from the first dream were there and still after me.

Ron and I lived in a different house in the country in the third dream. We had Arthur who was very shaggy. I was in a crawl space off of the kitchen, it was something like a pantry. I was looking for Christmas decorations for the porch. Arthur was wearing a beige punch needle Christmas sweater with a reindeer and peppermint candy design. He ran off to the neighbors on our right, and I had to go after him.

Finally, the last dream was a reality show. Ron was there. A man wanted to marry a woman. The woman’s mother was present. Supposedly the woman had to wait tables after the wedding. It was revealed that the suitor was twenty-six million dollars in debt, so the marriage wouldn’t happen. He seemed like a real smartass. Ron was lounging on a veranda wearing a tan and brown knit turtleneck sweater. He had a gold medallion with numbers etched into it: two, and others I can’t recall. It might’ve signified a date. It was resting just beneath his throat. The mother of the contestant thanked him and told me that I would be the reigning queen now.

Dreams 8/31

  8/31

I dreamed that I had been sick or hurt, and a certain Doctor Julian had sent me to stay in a trailer with a young mulatto woman. The place was a dump, piled high with clothes, mostly. I was a good sport about it, beggars can’t be choosers. The trailer was on the wrong side of the tracks in town. I don’t want the first dream of the book to be a cliche, because it was not. The woman was friendly enough and had friends. The first visitor was a little black man with a long opium pipe. The pipe looked ancient, dried old wood like the bottom of an old puddle. The woman brought out a big glass water bong and wanted to share, but I told her that I was sick and should not. The second guest was a smallish sort of Bigfoot, maybe more of a swamp monster with long dark hair. He didn’t stay long. The third guest was an old high yellow black woman with long grizzled white hair who reminded me of Mama Odie from The Princess & the Frog. She wasn’t blind, but she had the air of magic. She was complaining that my bunk was piled high with the girl’s wardrobe. I could see some black and white sheets and a thin mattress, but the girl said that there was no bed beneath the pile. The elder said that Dr. Julian was going to have to do something about it. The girl went out, and the front screen door kept falling off the hinges. I wanted to lock the door. There was some sort of lock. I couldn’t even keep it on the hinges. Arthur woke me early. Welcome to Dana’s Dreams Four, I suspect it’s going to be a long one.

Revenge of the Dream Hog

  5/26

The dream hog got its revenge this morning. What a morning for dreaming. First, I was with Theresa, and it was around dusk. I was wearing little tie dyed sweatshorts, like I wear around the house. We were on a beach. It might’ve been a river bank, sandy with driftwood and rocks. We did not have a ride home. I was supposed to ride with a white man that Theresa knew, but for some reason I walked. It was very far away from home, and it began to sleet. The roads became very slushy with grime, and I was soaked. Three young white men were following me and seemed a worry until I ripped into them, telling them all off. They scattered. I approached an old factory, and when I entered I was no longer myself. I became a classy middle-aged black woman. The factory made garland, decorations for holidays, all kinds: Christmas, Easter, and all colors. There were big cardboard boxes and garland everywhere, so the place seemed a maze of boxes and I, the black woman, sashayed through the corridors wearing a tight sequin dress and swinging my hips. My hair was done up in curls. Some men from the factory started after me. They were wrapping me up in a clown box and turning me into popcorn. One guy told the other to eat me. He said that he liked popcorn pussy.

The next dream was very intense and came along with many warnings about childhood, innocence, and society. It took place in the late 1600s, that’s my guess. I was myself again, only about eleven years old. I had been adopted by a wealthy family, but I was not much. We were having a feast and many families had gathered for it. No idea why I was in charge of cooking, but I was. I looked for some meat to roast first. The meat was kept in a cellar with a dirt floor. There were some wooden crates to my right with a few seasoned chicken cutlets and two big portions of pork that looked more like thick pink giant sized t bone steaks. I chose them because they were the biggest and took them outside to a cobblestone garden where there were many toaster ovens set high against the back wall. Crusty bread was already baking in the ovens, and Mummy was there. I put blackberries on one of the cuts and cherries on the other and placed them into the ovens to roast. One of the portions, the cherried one, slid off the oven rack, down the stone wall, and landed on the cobblestone garden floor. I picked it up and took it back down to the cellar sink, which was deep as a laundry tub, and washed it. By this time my adopted mother, who might’ve been Elizabeth McGovern, all dressed in black, had regrettably called off dinner. She asked me if I had been drinking. I assured her that I had not. She asked if I had put spirits on the pork and why I had chosen it to prepare. I told her it was only cherries and that there was not enough of any other meat for the many families who had now gathered in the garden. They were all together in their small family groups, and each family had some sort of ancestral treasure with them like trunks, inlaid wooden cabinets, small velvet upholstered chairs, and large china dolls dressed in period Spanish gowns and caps. A game was afoot, a game that I should not have been playing, a cruel game of rumors. I was in the back of the garden when a man in his thirties, dressed in bronze galligaskins and hose, said that a woman was a whore and that she had brought down a man and ruined him. I could picture the woman that he was referring to, so I knew her. She had brown ringlets and wore a long gold and brown gown. I foolishly whispered his accusation to an older girl, and like the telephone game, the scandal started. There were whispers and accusations all around. There was a family in the middle of the garden that were called something like The Green Ladies. There were perhaps three of them, two girls and their grandmother. They had a big china doll with a pink silk skirt. One of the girls, in a red dress, who looked like a doll herself, was accused as the whore. I went to the family, siding with them, and cried. The grandmother asked if I knew Latin, and I assured her that I did. An older girl from another family ran up on us and stabbed the china doll with an enormous kitchen knife. The doll was ripped from the bottom. One of the families with older children had two big wooden gnomes with tall red caps as part of their family stash. A girl ran up and took the smaller gnome trying to destroy it. A blonde girl from the gnome family screamed, “I’ll kill you if you hurt that gnome!” Now she had made herself vulnerable to the crowd, so I repeated her threat drawing attention to myself. There was a ginger headed queer dressed to the hilt, in reds and gold, very glitzy, who was also defending The Green Ladies and stuffing his face with something. Meanwhile there was a commotion at the front of the garden involving my older teenage adopted brother with long dark hair who had drawn his sword in defense of his sweetheart. I was getting worried, looking for my adopted mother, wishing that I had kept my big mouth shut. I knew she’d be furious. I was regretting my honesty when a tall dark haired gentleman dressed in white approached me from the left of the back garden wall. He had an inlaid white cabinet, like a spice cupboard that was thin, two little drawers wide, but as tall as he. He begged me, saying he was not the scoundrel. I knew he wasn’t and assured him, “I do not know you, sir.” People were leaving or trying to at this point. Nobody was drinking, it was not allowed. I moved past a bunch of expertly made big wool stuffed animals, one, a gray and white kitten, was dressed in a little red suit like a child. A tiny white long haired dog scurried to a back room, and a girl said, “Surely, it can’t be a dog!” She meant the culprit. I was worried about the little thing. This crowd was out for blood. I was an outsider and sorry for my stupidity when two young girls began to argue. One, Laura Younkin, I knew from junior high. She wore a full gold silk skirt, and her hair was strung with ribbons and curled. The other girl had accused her, and she swore her innocence and accused me. She said, “Dana wants me removed as I do her!” I knew that Laura was not involved and told her that I’d not accuse a child. I was trying to be quiet and not give myself up when I woke up. It was a very detailed dream. I’ll try to use it in a saloon in DOC.

Dreams 5/23

And, just like that, they're back and beyond electrorococo. From Dana's Dreams Three Revenge of The Dream Hog:

  5/23

I had a couple of strange and wonderful dreams this evening. First, my brother and I were ghost hunting with Dame Darcy. We were driving in a car when Darcy pranked Glenn into thinking that he pissed himself. It was all good fun, but Glenn was salty and sabotaged our ghost hunt afterwards saying we were frauds. This dream felt so real that I did not believe it was a dream until after I had woken up.

The second dream began in a college dormitory. I lived in a small room with a childhood friend. The left side of the room had pink and brown plush carpeting, the right was pink and white candied marble. There were some visitors down the hall, and I was supposed to go outside and smoke a cigarette with one of the strange fellows. I had a gold box of Benson and Hedges cigarettes. But, I was waylaid because the long sliding door to our room had fallen off track, and I could not get it back on. My friend Brea, from school, tried to help but couldn’t. This is when my new boyfriend, Eric, showed up. He was a handsome white guy with sandy colored hair. I was leaving with him, but somehow he had disappeared on the staircase. Only his clothes and a bag were found. I was frantically looking for him when I ran into Daddy and my old neighbors, the Keilers, in a lush green yard that was meticulously kept like a park. By now Eric had caught up with us, and I was very relieved. He told me that he had to switch clothes with Brea. Mrs. Keiler, Gerri, was telling me how she had seen Fancy’s grave, that it was marked with white chalk just as Mummy had said. Fancy was a black cocker spaniel terrier mix we got when I was in junior high. Now I was wondering where Hoagie, our childhood dog, a collie and golden retriever mix, was buried. I was very distressed that I could not remember. Was he Up Camp? At Grandma’s? Anyway, Gerri told Eric that he was very lucky to have me. Then Eric introduced me to his cat, a silver tabby named Victor, I think. A man came after Eric and arrested him. We were separated, and he took him to jail with a bunch of naked queers. The guard also had another silver tabby cat. When the two of them were alone Eric overpowered the prison guard and had him on the ground. Victor came and started sucking on the guard’s cat. The cat’s foot shrivelled up as if it had been freeze dried or mummified, all black, curled, and crisp. Victor now morphed into a tiny new kitten and wore a yellow flower around his neck. Eric took him and hid him under some brambles, and we were reunited for a spell. The prison guards were after us, shooting at us. We dove into a dark river and when we came up for air we had been transformed into two other bodies. I was Latin and Eric had become a strong black man with strange eyes. I told Eric that this wasn’t me, but he assured me that I was myself saying, “It is!”.  We floated on some branches until we arrived at a complex. When we got to the black man’s home his family was terrified, knowing that it wasn’t really him but a body snatcher. Like my dorm room, they also had a Japanese sliding door. I asked Eric about Victor, and he told me that he would find us.

Mod Black Girls (Dana's Dreams Two Cover Art) Original for Sale + Beetlejuice...

   Get the Original on Ebay

I found these when I went to my watercolor pad for my portrait of Doc Holliday for DOC which I have officially began, although I'm only up to chapter twenty-nine in my notes: Doc working for the Santa Fe Railroad. They are the cover art for Dana's Dreams Two. They came to me in a dream. Dana's Dreams Three Revenge of the Dream Hog is in the works. Think I've made it to page sixty-five, although I've not been dreaming so much the past month. It might be due to my many projects or the fact that I've replaced wine with coffee.

I got my Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Monster Highs today. We'll see if Amazon accepts my review. They threaten me keeping it real. I have so many fond memories of the first eighties film. I saw it twice in the theater, once with my boyfriend and again with my three girlfriends. I loved the second film even if I watched it alone on Netflix. I'll watch it again. I love the dolls. I prefer Lydia's short skirt, so cute. Wish Beetlejuice was more masculine. He looks like Honey Swamp to me who I love, but she's no Beetlejuice. Anyway, what I could not say in my Amazon review without getting booted was that I hope that the toy hacks that are ruining Mattel and Monster High are livid and get stuck with the tons of dolls they've gobbled up to try to rip us all off. Planet Scam! I thanked Amazon in my review asking them please to have more exclusive Skullector Monster Highs. I got the Grady Twins there for ninety dollars. I was stuck at the Mattel site for hours waiting for Elvira to be told they sold out in minutes. Ron did backflips to get her for me for Valentine's Day. I told Amazon we want Jack and Sally, Morticia, and the Hocus Pocus witches.

Down with the toy hacks! ☠

The Dream Hog

3/23

This epic night of nightmares might be attributed to Blue Marsh’s sumptuous mushroom soup. The dreaming  began with Mummy and I in a cottage. I went outside to a glorious English garden with tall red flowers. There were two dogs, buff and white Springer Spaniels, mating, but not like dogs; they were holding on to each other like people, face to face. There was an older fellow standing there, watching. I walked around to the back, and there were two dead dogs rotting in the tall grass. One looked like a big Doberman Pinscher. Then I saw Shiner, to the right, he was dying. I ran back to the cottage to tell Mummy.

The next dream was worse. I was in a pet store with a girl. Julius, my Betta fish, was in a glass fishbowl only he was big, big as an Axolotl. I was baby talking him when I picked him up and kissed him. We were in a small part of the shop hidden behind heavy velvet patterned drapes. Three college aged boys came in and started harassing me. One was very fat and bald. He was wearing a green sweatshirt and white bermuda shorts. I kicked him in the groin which did not seem to matter, so I said he must be very small. Now the other who looked like somebody out of Happy Days with golden curls, wearing a blue letterman jacket, and his mate were after me. I ran and forced myself awake.

The third dream wasn’t much better. I was in the garage at home in Clover Crest readying my car, Little Pearl, for a Gettysburg trip. I removed a blue glass water bong from up behind the pedals and placed it on a metal shelving unit to the left. Mummy and my brother were both there. Halfway there, maybe at a rest stop or visitor’s center, not sure, I had to stop in a  crammed garage for a checkpoint. I was doing something in my car then came out around the trunk where I placed my items that had to be checked, maybe five of them, including my gold and cream fabric money pouch and a plastic bag with what looked like pink cotton candy or raw wool that was actually drowning floss. I knew if you had the stuff in your mouth while swimming you could not drown. A blonde woman was checking my things and told me that was smart as somebody had drowned last year  when a man wearing a beige and brown uniform passed by. I thought he was a cop. The woman asked if “that nice young man took your money lesson”, referring to my money pouch. I said, “I don’t know, did he?” She nodded. I ran after him but he had already left around a corner. Very distressed, I woke myself up again.

Here comes the big one, it’s really rather ridiculous, I think, that I should have to dream for the entire planet of nondreamers. If Frankie is a dream eater, then I must be a dream hog. I’ll probably have to make more coffee just to get through; and I’m using my big birthday owl mug that Theresa had sent. This one took place at Chatham College that was very different from when I had gone there, much bigger, more modern. Daddy had taken me to school and was resting in an old dark wood stained twin bed waiting for me to finish classes; I had three. It must’ve been late afternoon. I was sitting at the foot of his bed talking to him when I put the headboards, about the size of cutting boards, into my bag. Afterwards I was with a group of women in a cafeteria that was dimly lit and looked more like an auction or mess hall. I was going through my heavy bag with books and headboards looking for some snacks in a plastic bag when a very strange fellow with a brown tweed cap and granny glasses sat down next to me and asked, “Do you drink?” I did not know how to answer when he told me that he thought that I drank because as was very loud as he. I told him it was because I used to be a teacher and picked up talking louder. He left as I pretty much told him to bugger off. The women were saying how creepy he was. When we got up the women noticed how heavy my bag was and how I was straining. They took me to a little stall that was bustling with students. They handed me a heavy gray wool drawstring duffle bag with a letter on it, C, I think. One of the women told me that a boy had bought it for me. The clerk handed me a wad of cash. I told him that I did not pay for it and asked who had. He told me that he was Asian. I looked around, and there were no Asians present, so I put the money in my wallet and went to class. My first class was in a crowded library, and I was not much worried about it although my book was a different edition than the other students at the table. Mine was a big green paperback with a white printed cover, but the others were purple. My female professor did not seem to mind. I was concerned, however, with my next class. I had only been there once. I didn’t even know what it was about. After that I was in a crowded lobby where there were rumors swirling about the two boys who had bought my bag. They were saying that they were big time, and drove sportscars. Their names were Lee and Chris. I was seated outside the classroom on a small set of bleachers with some other girls. One had long blonde hair and wore a skirt. She told me that she was thoroughly confused about the course as classes were always cancelled. She took three slim green hardbacks from her bag and showed me. They concerned Arthuriana, one had a Druidess on the cover and all had bare gnarly old trees. It appeared to be a history class. I began to feel relieved. I told I had read Le Morte d’Arthur and that she would like it. Then I second guessed myself, telling her it was full of superfluous things. Then something truly strange happened to a student in the class. It seemed he had been dropped in liquid nitrogen. The girl, his girlfriend, I think, and I were crying. I told her that he did not look like he had been dipped in liquid nitrogen. He had shrunk and was naked in a fetal position. He had a nice eighties style head of hair like Kevin Bacon. He was not freezer burnt. Lee, the Asian, joined us, and I returned his money. He insisted the boy be taken to the morgue, and the girl left with him. Later I ran into Chris, the other boy, he was a ginger. He asked about his money, and I told him that I had returned it to Lee and explained the entire incident. I was thinking that I could not fit inside of Lee’s borrowed sportscar, maybe. He was miffed at me to say the least, and I could not say that I blamed him. I was thinking that it was time to go when I came across a dark dollhouse, maybe six feet tall, in its own little alcove, that opened in two places. It was on a lazy susan, so could be turned about. I knew a girl from high school, Jennifer Davidson, had made it. It was lit. I noticed a lot of my dolls were there: Red Witch, Little Ron, my Victorian Nesbit’s, the Darlings, my wooden Santa, a nutcracker, and others. I took them all, looking, and crammed them in the top of my bag that had now changed into a supple pink messenger with many different zippered compartments. The headboards were gone. I was thinking that Daddy must be waiting for me by now, for sure. I was lost. A woman with old-fashioned upswept hair, wearing a pink ruffled blouse and long russet skirt, exited a set of glass doors on a concrete patio outside and offered me a bit of hard candy. I told her, “No thank you”, and asked the way to the parking lot. She told me that it was “downstairs through the lounge”. On the stairs were the same women from the cafeteria. I asked them if Chatham was a university now. I thought that it was from LinkedIn. They told me no, and laughed. They said that it was the online schools trying to make-out that they were real. I laughed too and thought so. The lounge was very busy. There were huge bins of DVDs for sale. Some girls were talking about a young man who had died and gave his age when I woke up and wrote down as many details as I could remember. I think a second dream notebook is nearly filled now.

Dreams 3/21

  3/21

My first dream is fuzzy because the second was like an epic film, but I’ll do my best to remember based on my notes. It started in the bathroom, here. I looked out the window and saw my friend Matt was standing in the yard. My brother was here, he was just a boy, maybe seven years old. It was Halloween, and Matt was holding up an eight by ten unframed watercolor. The painting was mostly done in blues and yellow. It depicted Druids, maybe three, and glowing standing stones all within a grove of pines. I don’t remember why I was cussing him out, but I was, and he just sort of melted into the painting.

Now for the epic starring a young Kirsten Dunst, in her early twenties, Ron, and me. I’d guess that Ron and I were in our early thirties. It took place in England, in a castle, fifteenth century, would be my guess. Kirsten was our young queen with long curly golden hair. She wore a small headpiece and a long, beautiful, form fitting, deep green, velvet gown. There were several ladies in waiting within the court besides myself. One was a young light skinned black woman dressed in pink velvet and white chiffon. Kirsten put on the huge, long, pink, braided wig that looked ridiculous. What’s more, she made us all wear wigs and headpieces that looked a lot like silk diapers. The black girl took the mandate the worst and felt humiliated. There was a brunette dressed in yellow and green with big hair separated in half with wispy bangs framing her face. She wore a lot of makeup, eyeliner, and lipstick. She pretended that she looked good, anything to appease the queen. There was a rumor of incest spreading around about the queen. Her tall, slender, young king was very animated and alarmed. He had shoulder length gray curls beneath his gold crown, and wore mail with gray tights. Behind a red tapestry, Ron was very angry with me. He yanked me by the arm and threatened me with a snarl. He wanted to strike me. His head was shaved, he looked terribly handsome, but I decided at that moment that I did not like him at all and would thwart his every action like a hidden viper. I did not say a word. Now I was gathered with the ladies in a fabulous room, dark, wooden, and round. There were glass cases lining the walls with miniatures. Military miniatures crammed the shelves within the right hand wall. In the center of the room was an open case. There were a lot of miniature porcelain people depicting the royal family through the ages. They were only a couple of inches tall and painted rather simply, that is they had black spotted eyes and red lips, and some of them wore blue jackets or gold gowns, but they were not painted very intricately considering that each sculpt was different and fine. They also were not glazed. Some of them were seated, they were all different, and I’d say at least thirty of them sat in the burgundy velvet lined case. What’s more, each had a little wooden dog, all sorts of breeds, hand carved. I pocketed one of the little dogs which I hid in a drawer of a wardrobe amongst some white and pink silk undergarments. It was a good thing too, because of the rumor about the queen the king had the entire lot of them burned in an enormous fireplace. This was a very different sort of dream for me. Like the ancient Greek dream I had on the 13th, it was very realistic and makes me wonder about past lives.

Dreams of Ancient Greece

3/13

I was fortunate to spend the evening in ancient Greece. My dreams began in an extensive cave system. The walls were smooth and white with little nooks. I was with a woman with long curly red locks and some others. We were eating half loaves of sweet yellow bread and waiting to meet with some man of importance.

Next I was visiting with a friend in her lavish villa by the sea. There were other lady visitors besides me, at least two or three. The furnishings like the chaise lounge and the walls were the same gleaming Bath stone as before, but now there were windows with long pink drapes that moved in the breeze. Our host had curly black hair and was very friendly and cheerful. She wore soft blue and white silk chiffon. She dressed us all, sharing her clothes. I wore a deep blue lace chiton with a ruby brooch at the center front holding it in place. The ruby was cut with a spray of silver behind as if it was a bud popping out from a spray of leaves. It was twice the size of a cameo. I also had a pink and blue lace diadem with another matching ruby third eye center and seed pearls dangling all around. The shoes were marvelous things, velvet clogs with pointed toes completely covered with patterns of gleaming gems. One pair that none of us wore were green with huge crimson rubies. My rubies were pink. Our generous host was pulling them all out from the bottom of her closet. Some were pink, others blue. There was perfume too that we rubbed on our wrists. In the corner to the right of the room was a shelving unit that looked like something straight out of Bedrock. There were different colored smooth stones, sort of egg shaped but longer, like elongated goose eggs, some bigger than others. There were red, pink, turquoise, blue, and green ones, and these were makeup that we applied to our eyes as shadow, cheeks as rogue, and lipsticks, but more. They were also drugs like opium that entered our bloodstream after rubbing into pulse points. There were a couple of fluffy little dogs, white and tan, who wore lavish beaded vests on their backs too. I was in love with Orpheus who wore a big white mask, twice as big as his face and had a matching smaller mask, face sized, as a glove or puppet on his hand. Otherwise we wore a beige chiton and nothing else. He was silent. We touched faces very lovingly, but he was gay, and I was devastated, hopelessly in love. This dream was so realistic I thought it was lucid all along. It couldn’t have been.

Funny Dreams!

   3/11

My first dream took place at a posh resort in the south seas. There were some familiar faces: Krisi, my ex-sister-in-law, my dear friend Adinda, Ron, and Shiner. Shiner got a bath. Adinda, Ron, and I were seated around a round covered table eating a sumptuous dinner and dessert. Adinda had her hair pulled back and wore a slinky beige gown. We were eating a creamy caramel pie for dessert. I was feeling guilty that I had eaten it all. Adinda had a doggie bag, a brown paper bag rolled up like a school lunch.

The next dream is really something else. It began in a stone castle where Mummy lived downstairs from me in a turret. There was a trick door around the outside and down three long stone steps where I could pop in and visit. She seemed happy. My brother was around too. Then I moved down a long hallway like you’d find in a hotel, not a castle, with a friendly Bigfoot with a gripe. He had a little purple felt pennant tag behind his ear that he showed me. It had something printed on it in yellow and white with one or two red words, but I don’t know what. Maybe somebody had tagged him. I left the building alone and was walking up a suburban neighborhood street when I came to a farm blocked by a primitive wooden fence. My friend Matt was there, beyond the fence, coming up the dirt road towards me, he was stark naked. I ran back down the wet suburban asphalt road away from him on all fours like a cat. It was tricky at first, but once I picked up some speed I was gone.
