Veggie A'pizzas

Wow, tired, busy day, talk about vegging out. Monday is my shopping day so often by Sunday I'm running low. I made two veggie a'pizzas with my very limited resources, and both turned out pretty good. The first is a white pie with muenster, and the other has red onions and peppers. Delightful Dolls is done, is better than I expected, and will likely be released as a paperback and ebook tomorrow. 🍕

Fourth A'Pizza

It's good. 🎆🍕🎆

Dreams 7/4

This dream took place in Gettysburg in the past. I was younger, in my twenties. By my well made cotton eyelet skirts and top I'd say somewhere around 1850. I started off in a hotel with a man. I think it might've supposed to have been my honeymoon. Somehow I'd run away from there with a young woman and wound up in another inn with her. It was a nice suite with several adjoining rooms and a wooden chest. She was romantically inclined, but I was not. She asked why I never touched her seriously. I left her to visit my childhood friend, Bobby, who I presume was staying in yet another inn with his wife who was not there at the time. I was going through the top right-hand drawer of a wardrobe that had a green silk petticoat and a black strapless bra that I took out and glanced over. Bobby said it was his wife's but that I could have it. I returned it to the drawer. He also said he did not understand why I ran off and married a woman, nobody did.

Not entirely sure if another school friend, Nick, was the man that I'd run away from at the beginning, or if he was part of another earlier dream that I've forgotten. I do know I dreamed of him last night. Don't know why, just like with The Dream People, I tend to dream about certain people regularly. A lot of them were just acquaintances, we were never that close, at least not on this plane. It's interesting to say the least. I think emotions, maybe even hidden ones, run deeper than we believe, both ways. At any rate, I wish all of my Dream Peeps happiness whether I know them or not. I bet there will be a volume two to Dana's Dreams in a couple years at this rate.

Time to make a'pizza. Happy Fourth of July! Free The Quaker Oats Dude motherfucking Demonrats! 🎆

Merry Pissmas!

Why Pissmas? Shiner is seventeen, so I say, Welcome to Piss Pad Land! My baby brother, aka, Jack N Oph from fakebook gaol, has come to visit for WWII Weekend. He's got a gig with Weedeater, (I think). I made cookies and a'pizza. He hasn't been here since Ron was throwing biscuits at Thanksgiving, so he had a stack of gifts including Cheech and Chong-opoly. Ron crushed us. I was Chong and was out first. It's more fun than Monopoly.

Back by Popular Demand

Shiner and I, that is. Mine has mushrooms and onions. I'd sat down on the couch with a slice while Shiner's plain red pepper cooled, and he jumped up and tried to take my hand off. These are plain parm a'pizza because I'd gotten vegan mootz by accident. What is that? Bean curd? Anyways, no good for a'pizza. Gilmore Girls are also to blame. Coffee is brewing now. 💕🍕💕

A'pizza

Took some a'pizza down to Annie and Jay. They had an Indian rope plant for me. That was my favorite plant that passed away with Daddy. Made some a'pizza for Bonsai Bob. Introducing him to Annie and Jay tomorrow. Fun times. 💕🍕💕

We're Not Proud

Dreams 7/20 (Nap)

Dreamt I got a new set of Barbies. There were two girls in the fold-out pack, one gray with silver blue long hair and the other was a blonde. They were dressed in mod flowered jumpsuits and came with extra clothes like groovy flowered pants and fuzzy collars. I had a stage for these chicks and was going wild.

Just in time for my latest doll soap: We're Not Proud. I'm setting it up and casting, now. The principal is Koshari and the head mistress is Miss Dark. Misfits include: Mr. Hoo-doo 'de Voo-doo, Baby Vampy, A'pizza, Feathertop, Batsy, and Novi. The cool ghouls feature: Blythe, Hook, Natasha, Nicole, Dia, Daphne, Ivy, Fresia, and Sage. It will be something like DARK SHADOWS hits Three's Company in the face.

Stay Tuned...

Pesto Artichoke A'pizza

I'd made both pesto and artichoke a'pizza before, but the combination is even better. Since learning the New Haven style I've been making them nearly every Friday, all sorts. Unlike other pizza, they're easily digested, and I haven't gained a pound. They're also fun and somehow therapeutic. I've got it down to something of a science. I clean up as I go along, use wax paper with olive oil and flour to roll out the dough, (I tape it to the counter), and instead of putting my dough in the refridgerator over night, I pop it in the freezer for a bit to speed up the process. Now, I can make a couple pies in a couple of hours with no mess. I was lucky to inherit a marble rolling pin, which is a big help. If you come across one of those, grab it. I put a bit of olive oil and flour on it, too. That helps. I use a lot of olive oil. I stick to the New Haven recipe, only use thyme instead of parsley, (I prefer it), and even put it in my flour along with the salt. I also usually use six cheeses instead of just parmesan and mootz.

Pizza Killin' Commies

                                          The Commies Want Your Pizza

Don't miss the link at the bottom leading to the story where like with The Rig, The Kid Smeller admits to selling "lots of secrets". Sounds like he's not the best Chinese puppet afterall. Good puppets know when to keep their mouth shut. Oh, the pleasures of having a demented puppet as a world leader. I'll take the pizza, and pass on this bad joke of a commie. Told myself not to waste my time with evil politics with this blog, but commies ruin everything.

A'pizza Stone

I was real excited to score a pizza stone at the little market as a three piece set for $17, I've wanted one for longer than I'll admit. They actually had many types of pizza pans ranging from $5 to this, the most expensive. There was even a Dolly Pardon one with a crisper for a couple of dollars less. I made Ron and Shiner a meat lovers pie, and although it looks a'pizza perfect, my old McGyver tin foil on old cookie sheets with olive oil and corn meal beats it. I had put olive oil and corn meal on the stone, quite a bit of oil, to keep the pizza from sticking, but it still stuck all along the perimeter of the crust, and quite frankly, the other McGyver crust is fluffier, with more air pockets, and better. Also, where my cookie sheet pizzas take 13 minutes to bake in a 500 degree oven, this pizza took nearly twice as long. It was still raw after 13 minutes. I'll still use the pizza stone, but I'll cover it in foil with olive oil and corn meal in the future. I might pick up a couple of those little $5 pans, too, they have a handle, and are a bit deeper than the cookie sheets. The Dolly pie on the cover just looked like ordinary pizza joint pizza, which I've never been wild about, so I think I'll skip that, although I'd still like to see Dolly on the dollar bill. Shiner loves it, anyways. He said. "This shit is off the hook, Bitch."

May Day Clam Pie

Mmm, I made myself a yummy mushroom a'pizza, but I made Ron a New Haven clam pie by request. Proof positive it's not only possible but best to keep to my good side. It's not impossible, I've got commie friends. Only requires politeness, 'witch obvi is a lost art like good pizza.

A'pizza Redux

No wonder I'm one of the only people Ron still likes. When you're good for something, go for it, and I've been baking since childhood. This is only my second go at pizza from scratch, and this time I was really hurting for ingredients so just made a pesto and a cheese pie. Now, the only question is which to go after, first, probably the pesto. I forgot I'd wanted to put some artichoke on that one, so next time.

My First A'pizza

I'm not a proud person, but my first a'pizza is delicious. I've never made a pizza from scratch, always used a shell, kit, or frozen dough. Mine blows those away, although I've only got an electric oven. I tried to follow the New Haven recipe, but did I cheat, and Dana it up? You know it. I added thyme to the dough. I did not let it rise for five hours, only three. I did not refrigerate the dough overnight, rather a couple of hours. I did follow the  garlic and sauce recipe, pretty much, cooking it on low for quite awhile. I don't have a pizza pan, so covered a cookie sheet with foil, olive oil, and a bit of flour. I used six cheeses. My side is just mushrooms, but I added sweet sausage to Ron's as that's how he likes it. I did dust it with a bit of parsley as called for, but I'm not a big parsley fan, so added more oregano and thyme. I baked it as directed: 500 degrees for eight minutes, preheating the oven an hour. It's way better than any other pizza around here. The crust is soft, but not too thick. Ron usually eats ten pieces of other pizza, but was full after two pieces of mine. He had soup and salad, though, too, as I had no idea how my first pizza entirely from scratch was going to turn out. I was full with one piece, along with a nice pinot noir, of course. There are only a few ingredients: flour, yeast, salt, water, oregano, garlic, olive oil, tomatoes, and parmesan, besides what I added, and I'll definitely be making more a'pizza. I'll likely make Ron a clam one, although I won't touch that. I'm thinking I'd like a nice pesto one.
