More from Bonsai Bob

I thought the chandeliers were original to the three-hundred-and-twenty-something-year-old house, but no. They are from the house where Bob was born that they tore down long ago. The shop was a stop on the Underground Rail Road, but the God forsaken government wants to tear it down for the road. 😡 I left some homemade a'pizza for Bob. Ron also got me a burro's tail that I've wanted my entire life. I've named him Fabian since Bob opened for him, The Beach Boys, and The Yard Birds. There was one in Vincent Science Hall where we went to school. Annie and Jay got a couple of plants from Bob too as well as a couple of bags of his bonsai mix. God bless Bob Mutschler, what a treasure. 🎕

Back with Bonsai Bob

Was so glad I'd baked Bob cookies, and we were so blessed with another jaunt to Mutschler's Rare Plants. I got a lovely succulent this time, I call her, Elsie. We got a gorgeous green Turkish lamp as you can see above the fireplace in the second photo. Also scored another bag of his awesome bonsai mix. My plants eat that up.

Buddah

I'd been saying for years that I was going to check-out the Lidyl market in the little old town where I first lived when I moved out here. What took me so long? Probably because I'm fiendishly loyal and love the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Shillington, aka, Loyola, so. But, Lidyl has a good bakery, with organic whole grain bread, (no bleached flour: poison), and wine. Grocery Outlet has neither, that's where they're lacking, and I always have to make a bunch of stops along the way to pick up the things I'd missed. They also aren't great for fruit or produce unless it's local and in season. I got this precious bonsai, who I'm calling, Buddah, at Lidyl for six dollars. They have fabulous hanging plants, succulents, and cut flowers too. Ron says they're European as he's seen them as sponsers on The Tour de'France, but I also saw one in an Australian documentary about a serial killer, so they're out there. Not ready to give up my Grocery Outlet, that I call, The Little Market, the staff are so kind, but I will be going back to the real Lidyl market. Impressed!

Mutschler's Rare Plants

There is a green house on the way to Philadelphia that I've wanted to check-out for at least fifteen years, and it is better than I ever might've imagined. I knew there would be koi, but the frogs, snake, cat, and chipmunk were a surprise. The owner, Bob, used to open for The Beach Boys, has a Phd in Horticulture, and taught at Penn State. The house is three-hundred-and-fifty-years-old, and was a stop on The Underground Railroad. There are bonsai, lily ponds, shrubs, trees, and cacti. I got some special potting mix, some root enzyme, and an Old Wooly Man cactus like I've wanted since I was a kid. He was the only one, and Bob said he grew a lot this year. I've called him, Bob. Check-it-out, it's wonderful.
