Cinderella Shoe Scene | Dutch National Ballet| Marquee TV

Two Gentlemen of Verona was darling. I've seen so many reditions of Cinderella, including a dirty seventies version, that I was certain I'd seen this. Wrong again, looks fab... My apologies, out of commission again... Ebay will be vacationing, feel free to shop my Amazon, Printer's STUDIO, and ZAZZLE shops though.

Shakespeare: Two Gentlemen of Verona (Royal Shakespeare Company)

Making it through the week with free Marquee TV. How did I miss this? Thought I read and saw all of Shakespeare's plays at this point. Wrong again. It's so cute.

The Scarecrow (Fantasy, Drama) PBS Public Broadcasting - 1972

Free Marquee TV this week. Was happy to discover this. Can tell already it's based on a Hawthorne story I used to teach, Feathertop. Now that I see it's on YouTube think I'll wait to watch it and check out The Entity, think that's a ballet. That book rocks too.

Update: not the same Entity, a few minutes in, I'm calling that a stinker. Trying Gershwin's World, then. They can't ruin that. Can they?

Second update: the Gershwin is cool, but it's just music, and I can listen to Gershwin any time. Dowland Dance, The Washigton Ballet with music by Sting, is more my thing.

Third update: hip, hip, hooray! The Royal Opera has finally come back to The Beatrix Potter Ballet! The original is one of my favorite things. I remember watching it with Mummy in the den as a kid. My Grandpap and Aunt Fawnie got me the original hardback book for Christmas. I still have it. 💓🐇💓

Dreams 1/28

Dreamt that I was back in high school and had been given two lead roles in two plays by two different teachers all in a day. I didn't try out. What's more both were more like omnibuses than plays, and I hadn't even read either of them. The one was Their Eyes Were Watching God, but not really, rather, it was four inches thick, and if it was a play it would've taken all day. They were both worn old paper backs, one had a turquoise cover with white script and the other was hot pink with a dark title. There were two girls from high school in my classes: Bridget and Carla.  Somehow I had lost the fat pink book and was running all over the school looking for it, sliding down banisters, and all. I was thinking I was going to have to quit a play already, maybe both.

In the second dream Ron and I were settlers, I think it was colonial America. There were natives, but they were white. We set up our tent, it was just sort of an open faced, small, canopy or shelter with a sliding screen in the front. We had some Mexican blankets on the ground inside. There were some people outside, and I was asking Ron if I should cover the right-hand-side in plastic. That's what I was doing, and was thinking about a gun, when I woke.

Dreams 10/15

Dreamt that I was teaching a couple of plays, I think they were Greek tragedies. We were outside in costumes and my friend, Janeen, from high-school, was there. Why I was the lead I wouldn't know. Maybe Jocasta from Oedipus or something of that sort?

Dreams 6/12

Dreamt I was in high school and was cast a part in a play about the Brontes. Funny that it was not my high school, rather a tall cluttered Victorian style house with many floors. There was a lot of hub-bub as I did not even know what part I was playing since I hadn't even tried out. The only other person I recognized was Amber, our homecoming queen. There was a girl with dark hair who I did not know in real life. I was dressing in costume and had no blouse. I discovered that Amber was to play Anne. I told her I was reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, and that it was about an alcoholic. She said she hadn't read it. When it came time to go home I could not find my black boots and was running barefoot up and down narrow staircases looking for them.

The next dream was very much the same only I was in college. How I was in high school and college at the same time I don't know, but it seemed to take place in the same house. It was dimly lit as by lamplight. I was so delighted to discover that I was cast as Emily in yet another, different play about the Brontes. The fact that I was in two plays at the same time did not seem to phase me too much, I thought I could pull-it-off. My high school teacher was in this one, and I told her how excited I was as Emily was my favorite. She said she was her favorite as well: Wuthering Heights. This time we were rehearsing. I was standing at an antique dresser and had a beaded change purse. One of the two girls with me handed me something for my purse. This girl was dark haired, and there was also a blonde. These two seemed to know their lines already, but I had to open my big blue omnibus, as I was lost. Then, Ron came. I told him I died in an elevator in this play. The elevator had a pink ceramic facade. I was thinking I would probably want a wig for these parts. I could not wait to go home and tell Mummy about the plays.
