Monster High Doll, Skelita Calaveras Día de Muertos

A favorite monster, (you can never be too rich or too thin), I have two Skelita dolls. I play with one, and the other is in the box, mounted on the wall. I also have the Rainbow High Day of the Dead doll because she is clawsome. Still, I find myself wanting this new Aztec one. Her face is so beautiful. It would be hard for autumn to beat this past summer. It has been a good year. ☠

Summer Harvest

There are as many little ones still on the vine in both the front and backyard. The fish tank water has produced some monsters, twice as big as any you ever see at the grocery store. This is only my second big gourd harvest ever. I don't know why I don't get them every year. I don't think there are any pumpkins or squash this year either, just gourds. Some of them are so big that I thought they were yellow and spaghetti squash, but they aren't.

Dream Notebooks

 11/18

So many dreams to report, and I scribbled them in my dream notebook in the dark, so it’s like automatic writing and will require some deciphering and translating. First, Tim was here in the dining room and admired my high school class ring that I wasn’t wearing. Ron had an adorable buff colored rat terrier who looked like he had a mustache. The word, “steam”, is written in my dream book, but I can’t remember what it referred to: some sort of cleaning, I think. Maybe Frankie, the cat, had to be steam cleaned, but I can’t be sure.

Then I was walking my old grade school route to school, my old girlfriend, Stephanie Schwerian, was sitting on the steps. She wore a soft powder blue sweater, and her hair was longer. She mentioned something to me about “woke ass Irish” according to my dream script. I’m not sure what that refers to, but I think it had something to do with my tall dark haired boyfriend, Brian, who I also used to work with in a bar in the South Side. It wasn’t grade school, it was an enormous industrial high school, very stainless steel. I was driving my car, then, and Brian was in the passenger seat. There was a naked pink pearlescent Monster High doll with wavy blonde hair who was positioned backwards with her ass against the dashboard. Somehow she was interfering with my driving. “Gas tank” is scribbled in the notes, then, “stop”. I think I had told Brian that my gas gauge was broken, and he had me stop.

Then I dreamed of a broken glass cabinet in the bathroom that hung over the sink.

Finally, the show stopper: I was an English teacher and was hosting a big Halloween party. I had rented a hall. What was more, there had been a national essay contest sponsored by somebody, and people that weren’t even my students, like Theresa, had entered. I had given a guy with auburn hair a cassette tape which I thought had old Smiths cover songs that my friends and I had performed. I got the results of the essay contest and Theresa had won first prize, $ 2,700, that in the dream I kept wondering if it was $27,000. An old student of mine, Allen, I think, had also won second or third prize, $2,600. While I was in the bathroom I could hear the tape playing, and it wasn’t me and my friends, rather old Smiths. There was a dark haired girl in there with me who was kind of picking on me for that. I was not perturbed. I sort of joked with the guy about thinking it had been us. Then, a girl, who looked like his twin sister in a lace blouse, showed me a white chandelier type of necklace that she wore around her neck. It was for holding your joint, and as she held it between her fingers she sang a little supposed Smiths song all about it. Theresa was there, and I was thinking she should have it for winning the contest. I was also thinking that Ron really could sing like Morrissey and suggested to the guy that Ron and I should sing a cover song. I awoke with, “Hang the DJ”, playing in my head.

Kudos to my dream notebook. If not for it I only would’ve remembered the final dream.

I haven't blogged my dreams in over a month. They've been going directly to Dana's Dreams Two. I started that back in June, and I'm around page forty-five. You can get Dana's Dreams here:

It is available as a paperback or ebook. It has some watercolors and photographs. So far Dana's Dreams Two does not. I don't know if it will, so it might be a lot more reasonable in paperback than the first. They are big books.

Shannen O'Lantern

Shannen O'Lantern is one of two big white pumpkins that grew outside the front door as their mama, last year's pumpkin, was too heavy for me to move. Shannen smells good. The witch, Tillie, came to me from Gettysburg College. I will be roasting her seeds, but Shannen is very meaty, so I might make some muffins too. Have a Happy Halloween!

Joanna Furnace Apple Festival

I was happily writing along about Joanna Furnace's Apple Festival until I mentioned some old geezer with a homemade Cabala Embarrass shirt, cap, and button. That's when my entire post vanished. Now I'm pissy. Yeah, I wanted to jump on her stupid commie head and beat her illiterate ass, but I did not. So, now, let me get back to my post that was rudely eaten by the fucking GOOGLE Monster. 😡 I had a ball. I had cider and apple fritters. We brought homemade pot pie and bean soup home. I also brought home some mead seltzer. I do not like mead, but the seltzer is tasty, and I got a mixed batch. Somehow I lost my box of Thanksgiving decorations. I don't have a lot, but Mummy's stuff from the bicentennial in Massachusetts is in there. Sure I'll find it while decorating for Christmas but until then I got this beautiful hand knitted scarecrow. I also got a handcarved Saint Francis, he's not Italian, so he might just be Pennsylvania made. I have a wooden Mary and Saint Patrick, but Francis is our long time saint of choice. I also scored a church doll from Mr. Glass who I'd gotten a lovely rag doll from a couple of Christmases ago. She always graces the foyer, too sweet to put away. Think we'll be seeing J.D. Vance at the airport later. Good times.

Dreams 9/15

I dreamed that Ron and I were living in a small red brick ranch. It was winter, and there was some snow on the ground, very blue.  Katie, Nora, and Eric were over visiting one evening. I cannot remember the conversations that I had with Katie and Eric only that they occurred. I think Katie and I were looking through an album of old black and white photographs. When the time came for them to leave for some reason Eric was driving his purple two door sedan, and Ron was following him with Katie, Nora, and me. I didn't have time to grab any shoes so was barefoot. After dropping them off at home I remember running barefoot through the crunchy snow.

The Scarecrow (Fantasy, Drama) PBS Public Broadcasting - 1972

Free Marquee TV this week. Was happy to discover this. Can tell already it's based on a Hawthorne story I used to teach, Feathertop. Now that I see it's on YouTube think I'll wait to watch it and check out The Entity, think that's a ballet. That book rocks too.

Update: not the same Entity, a few minutes in, I'm calling that a stinker. Trying Gershwin's World, then. They can't ruin that. Can they?

Second update: the Gershwin is cool, but it's just music, and I can listen to Gershwin any time. Dowland Dance, The Washigton Ballet with music by Sting, is more my thing.

Third update: hip, hip, hooray! The Royal Opera has finally come back to The Beatrix Potter Ballet! The original is one of my favorite things. I remember watching it with Mummy in the den as a kid. My Grandpap and Aunt Fawnie got me the original hardback book for Christmas. I still have it. 💓🐇💓

Growing the Big One

For Shannen. Her mama was my favorite pumpkin ever. I turned her into a coach. She was too heavy to move. Now we have a beautiful daughter. Wonder if she'll get as big as her mother? O, My Ra! season two is set up and coming soon. I have a couple of other fun surprises too.

Thanksgiving Weekend

This autumn has ranked as one of the most fun ever. My brother and I went down to the creek where I found a load of Turkey Tail mushrooms for a friend. After getting home I made Davey Bird, here, looking dramatic, who Ron has claimed, but I'm working on Jack N. Oph for my brother, now. These are inspired by David Bird's Becorns. My Liverpudlian girlfriend turned me on to them. Today we went on the mine tour in the Lehigh Valley. I got an arrow head and a couple of new crystals in their fun gift shop, one is local quartz. The mining museum was full of amazing art and doll houses. Finally, we went to the Stampede BBQ. It was our first time, but I've had their homemade cider at Apple Fest at Joanna Furnace. I'm a huge fan, it's more the European sort, and my brother said their hand crafted old-fashioned ale was good too.

Thriller - Series 1 - E07 - A Place to Die

Ignore the commie ads. Gag me! Talk about satanic! (Demonrats: as if the elections aren't 1000% RIGGED.)

Happy Halloween!

We've got a new red wine to try later, and I'm watching From a Whisper to a Scream on New Castle After Dark. It's not the best movie, but it's got Vincent Price, enough said. I've also been watching Thriller from the seventies on tubi. I enjoy trippy late sixties, early seventies things: more colorful and wyrd like me. Honestly not a Starbucks fan, but their Fall Blend is nearly as good as their Spring. Happy Halloween!
