Revenge of the Dream Hog

  5/26

The dream hog got its revenge this morning. What a morning for dreaming. First, I was with Theresa, and it was around dusk. I was wearing little tie dyed sweatshorts, like I wear around the house. We were on a beach. It might’ve been a river bank, sandy with driftwood and rocks. We did not have a ride home. I was supposed to ride with a white man that Theresa knew, but for some reason I walked. It was very far away from home, and it began to sleet. The roads became very slushy with grime, and I was soaked. Three young white men were following me and seemed a worry until I ripped into them, telling them all off. They scattered. I approached an old factory, and when I entered I was no longer myself. I became a classy middle-aged black woman. The factory made garland, decorations for holidays, all kinds: Christmas, Easter, and all colors. There were big cardboard boxes and garland everywhere, so the place seemed a maze of boxes and I, the black woman, sashayed through the corridors wearing a tight sequin dress and swinging my hips. My hair was done up in curls. Some men from the factory started after me. They were wrapping me up in a clown box and turning me into popcorn. One guy told the other to eat me. He said that he liked popcorn pussy.

The next dream was very intense and came along with many warnings about childhood, innocence, and society. It took place in the late 1600s, that’s my guess. I was myself again, only about eleven years old. I had been adopted by a wealthy family, but I was not much. We were having a feast and many families had gathered for it. No idea why I was in charge of cooking, but I was. I looked for some meat to roast first. The meat was kept in a cellar with a dirt floor. There were some wooden crates to my right with a few seasoned chicken cutlets and two big portions of pork that looked more like thick pink giant sized t bone steaks. I chose them because they were the biggest and took them outside to a cobblestone garden where there were many toaster ovens set high against the back wall. Crusty bread was already baking in the ovens, and Mummy was there. I put blackberries on one of the cuts and cherries on the other and placed them into the ovens to roast. One of the portions, the cherried one, slid off the oven rack, down the stone wall, and landed on the cobblestone garden floor. I picked it up and took it back down to the cellar sink, which was deep as a laundry tub, and washed it. By this time my adopted mother, who might’ve been Elizabeth McGovern, all dressed in black, had regrettably called off dinner. She asked me if I had been drinking. I assured her that I had not. She asked if I had put spirits on the pork and why I had chosen it to prepare. I told her it was only cherries and that there was not enough of any other meat for the many families who had now gathered in the garden. They were all together in their small family groups, and each family had some sort of ancestral treasure with them like trunks, inlaid wooden cabinets, small velvet upholstered chairs, and large china dolls dressed in period Spanish gowns and caps. A game was afoot, a game that I should not have been playing, a cruel game of rumors. I was in the back of the garden when a man in his thirties, dressed in bronze galligaskins and hose, said that a woman was a whore and that she had brought down a man and ruined him. I could picture the woman that he was referring to, so I knew her. She had brown ringlets and wore a long gold and brown gown. I foolishly whispered his accusation to an older girl, and like the telephone game, the scandal started. There were whispers and accusations all around. There was a family in the middle of the garden that were called something like The Green Ladies. There were perhaps three of them, two girls and their grandmother. They had a big china doll with a pink silk skirt. One of the girls, in a red dress, who looked like a doll herself, was accused as the whore. I went to the family, siding with them, and cried. The grandmother asked if I knew Latin, and I assured her that I did. An older girl from another family ran up on us and stabbed the china doll with an enormous kitchen knife. The doll was ripped from the bottom. One of the families with older children had two big wooden gnomes with tall red caps as part of their family stash. A girl ran up and took the smaller gnome trying to destroy it. A blonde girl from the gnome family screamed, “I’ll kill you if you hurt that gnome!” Now she had made herself vulnerable to the crowd, so I repeated her threat drawing attention to myself. There was a ginger headed queer dressed to the hilt, in reds and gold, very glitzy, who was also defending The Green Ladies and stuffing his face with something. Meanwhile there was a commotion at the front of the garden involving my older teenage adopted brother with long dark hair who had drawn his sword in defense of his sweetheart. I was getting worried, looking for my adopted mother, wishing that I had kept my big mouth shut. I knew she’d be furious. I was regretting my honesty when a tall dark haired gentleman dressed in white approached me from the left of the back garden wall. He had an inlaid white cabinet, like a spice cupboard that was thin, two little drawers wide, but as tall as he. He begged me, saying he was not the scoundrel. I knew he wasn’t and assured him, “I do not know you, sir.” People were leaving or trying to at this point. Nobody was drinking, it was not allowed. I moved past a bunch of expertly made big wool stuffed animals, one, a gray and white kitten, was dressed in a little red suit like a child. A tiny white long haired dog scurried to a back room, and a girl said, “Surely, it can’t be a dog!” She meant the culprit. I was worried about the little thing. This crowd was out for blood. I was an outsider and sorry for my stupidity when two young girls began to argue. One, Laura Younkin, I knew from junior high. She wore a full gold silk skirt, and her hair was strung with ribbons and curled. The other girl had accused her, and she swore her innocence and accused me. She said, “Dana wants me removed as I do her!” I knew that Laura was not involved and told her that I’d not accuse a child. I was trying to be quiet and not give myself up when I woke up. It was a very detailed dream. I’ll try to use it in a saloon in DOC.

Sick Dreams

 2/6

Due to staying up all night watching Aquarius and finishing off a bottle of cheap guinea pinot grigio I was too lazy to write down my first couple of dreams that came with the ice storm. No worries, the third made up for them all. I was back in the house in Oakland only it was different, and there were other occupants including an old balding man. The place had a massive attic, and the old man opened up a grocery store up there. He said it was always his dream. I was flabbergasted by the bins of fresh fruits and vegetables: peppers and bananas. There was a keg of chardonnay, and I filled my fishbowl glass from the floor. But there was more, a lot more. At the far concrete block wall was a set of restrooms and an elevator. Beyond that was another room, a Christmas room, brimming with decorated trees with baskets of ceramics, ornaments, and crafts on the floor. I saw Mummy and Daddy, and none of us could believe it. Daddy was a bit overcome with it all and just sat and rested. The old man took me back to the front of the attic where there was a little room with a window that led out to sea. On a deck were a group of native fishermen and the water was swarming with black and white fish about the size of bluegills with fangs like a terrier. Dreaming, I knew their name, something like spelt. They were thrashing against the glass and broke through, three of them were flopping on the floor. There were a couple other women standing against the wall. I left the room having to use the bathroom. The bathrooms were a surprise: three of them, all different. The third was big for handicapped and pretty standard, but the first two were decorated with wreaths of raffia with red ribbons, hand towels, and other country decor. The first one had a shower with a plastic curtain. None of them locked, however, so I couldn’t use them. Mummy was there, using the second restroom. After leaving I wanted to go downstairs as I knew there were more bathrooms there. First I ran into Tim. He asked me if I could get him a Mountain Dew, and I told them they had Dr. Pepper. Then I met my brother and told him about the natives and fish. There were all sorts of cardboard boxes lining the wall full of an assortment of things including Red Witch who I took. I was wondering what she was doing there and if the old man had looted my dollhouses, only I could not remember seeing them. Then I came upon a girl, who I knew; she told me she was with a guy who I had dumped while taking a bath. I told her that was not how it happened as I was picturing it in my mind: I was in a clawfoot bathtub frothy with bubbles. My hair was tied back, and I had a natural sea sponge. Jess from Gilmore Girls came in, and I told him to get lost or something of the like. Then he, Jess, joined the girl. He was wearing a long dark wool coat and a red scarf. I still had to go to the bathroom, which is common in my dreams because I really have to go. 😂 That’s when I met Matt Koett. I showed him Red Witch, and he asked about the other dolls. I said that I didn’t know that I’d only found Red Witch. I finally reached the elevators where there was a girl with red hair that I’d known in the dream. She was selling fresh vegetables like green peppers and had a sign on her stand that read Live Oats. We spoke for a bit, and I moved on to where a woman was standing at the elevators complaining about missing her flight due to the monstrous market. There was a wall of stuffed animals like pink Squishmallows and lots more behind her when I woke up because I  had to go to the bathroom.

2/7

Very sick last night, so I did not dream until morning. I was at a class reunion. It began beneath a yellow and white tent where I was with some dream people that I knew when Janeen joined us, cute and chatty as ever. After she had gone John  came in, and when he heard that Janeen had just been there he said that she was such a slut. I told him that I’d heard the same about him, so he left. I was folding a burgundy satin sleeveless gown and a little black sequined shrug in the back corner that I had planned to wear to the outdoor ball later. Then there was a sort of alumni variety show. Theresa was there afterwards although she wasn’t in my class, which I hadn’t thought of. There were others, dream people, that I don’t really know. Theresa and I were in a dark sort of alcove, a place where two doors met. Curt, dressed in black, came in and stood against the door. He was trying to get my attention, “Dana… Dana”, but I was talking to somebody and had my back towards him. He got huffy and left. Theresa said that he was rude as usual. I told her that he had gotten snippy with Susan lately too. Now we had a kind of This is Your Life spread. It looked like a flea market, (I dream about them a lot), but the items were not for sale, they only represented our lives. I was talking to a woman who at first I did not remember, Cindy, maybe. She was accompanied by an older woman with black tied back hair, dressed in gypsy like silk skirts, her aunt. There was a black and white eight by ten photograph of her with her late parents. Supposedly she was some sort of debutante or lesser royalty. She had silk dolls that her aunt had made. When it got time to pack our stuff up and put it away I was helping her. Then I remembered having met her when we were teenagers. I put a little box with yellow and orange plastic gems in a box and taped it up. Her aunt said that it was cheap, and that she hadn’t made it, perhaps, her sister had. I was so busy helping others that I had avoided my own hoard that Theresa was packing up. I looked under a table, there were lots of big cardboard boxes, but they all had somebody’s last name printed in red magic marker on them. I looked at a box of mine that Mummy had sent. It was full of junk including a naked wooden doll with a primitive face wearing a bonnet. Her body was smooth and straight. She was a bit bigger than a Barbie. I noticed a beautiful black and gold Japanese bed with white silk sheets that a woman who was not in my class had in the front of the room. I was thinking that people had brought their very best. Leaving through a sunny glass door like you’d find at a diner, Jennifer Davidson told me to keep in touch. I was thinking that I wouldn’t, but that maybe we’d have a party and how much I liked parties.

Breakfast with Frankie

We watched a wonderful rendition of Wuthering Heights last night that rivals my favorite A&E's from the nineties. It's only a couple of years old. That's a favorite book, I love the Brontes. We have free FlixFling (or something) this week. We watched Carved on hulu the other night too. That was not the worst horror flick, but it's no competition for Pumpkinhead. Know I dreamed of Theresa, but can't remember, although Frankie was trying to get me up for breakfast. When I would not get up he decided to go down and make breakfast himself. Shiner always supervised his meals, but Frankie jumps up on the counter. It was Lysoled about a hundred times last night, only twice so far this morning.

Dreams 10/10

I had three dreams, but the third has been lost to the ether. First, I was working in a department store with a tall blonde woman and two dark haired guys. We were wearing blue smocks. I was standing on a strange wooden stand that was something between a church pew and a music stand. The blonde was standing next to me. We were looking for something. I was on the ground and picked up a large polyglot crystal. It might've been rainbow or peacock obsidian. It was midnight blue with iridescent hues and shone like glass. I wanted it, I think, and asked one of the men the price. I think it was around seventy-nine dollars which wasn't bad considering the size and weight of it.

Next I was in something like Mummy's kitchen but it was different. Theresa and a boy were with me as well as Johnny ferret. There was a mossy little hole, very soft and green. I had stepped away for a minute and Johnny had vanished down the hole. I was upset with Theresa for allowing it to happen. I was looking for Johnny and calling him. Ron came in and asked what I was looking for. I told him Johnny ferret, and he asked what a ferret was. I explained to him that it was something like a weasel. Then, I noticed it was not a hole at all rather a pipe and that Johnny never could have fit through it. I found Johnny, was very grateful, and was holding and snuggling him. Wish I could remember the third dream, it wasn't bad.

Dreams 8/31

First I dreamed I was in Venice. Then, Theresa, Rick, some Dream People, and I were on a road trip to Gettysburg when we stopped to stay in an old two storey house with white siding; it needed a paint job. We were getting out of the car, which I think was a red SUV, and Theresa was talking about the house. It was getting dark. Inside the place was a dump, and a family was living there: an older mother with her three grown children, two daughters and a son. The oldest girl was taking a bath when we got there, I'd guess she was thirty with short brown hair. The accommodations were adjoining rooms with dirty clothes scattered about. I could hear the youngest daughter with her husband in the next room. He was trying to talk her into sex, but she wasn't having it. I got up because I couldn't sleep and walked about. One of my male companions was blaming the stay on my friend's husband Greg. I was sitting there thinking that Theresa had booked the room, and that Greg wasn't even there, so how was it his fault? I went back to my room. The big dirty green sunken tub where the daughter had been bathing when we got there was empty now. Rick and his girlfriend, Katie, were sitting in a small square bathtub with a white fence around it. Katie was wearing glasses and a white bathing cap. Rick was giving her a hard time about something when he told me it was his aunt Mary Anne's house. I was surprised. It was now morning and I went outside with the brother of the house who had dark hair and was in his twenties or thirties. We were climbing over some large yellow boulders that seemed to be sandstone when I rolled over and woke up.

Dreams 8/8

Dreamed I'd left Ron and was traveling with a nest of vampires. Ron was stalking us, always at our heels, trying to infiltrate and destroy the nest. He had a little black bulldog that he carried in his arms. At one point Theresa and I were staying in a motel, and Ron was at the door, but we wouldn't let him in. Theresa had gotten me a gift, a gray two piece swim suit with a cami crop top and boy shorts. I put it on and, we went out to eat. We were seated at out table in the restaraunt when people started gathering around wanting our autographs. Ron came in and commenced to torment our fans asking LGBQ++ things like, "How's this? Two women are married, so who is the husband?" And, more.

It was so like Little Ron you might see it in a future doll soap. In fact, The Three Witches Magic Shoppe Adventures in Doll Land, unlike the news, is based in truth and the doll soaps; it ends with one of Ron's recent dreams.

The electricity was out all day yesterday, so I had to log that dream in my real dream book that I've had for twenty-four years but is not anywhere near full. I was supposed to start Dana's Dreams with that but didn't, maybe next time. 🌈

Dreams 2/11

Dreadful! I was sitting on the floor of our living room with Theresa watching a dating show in real time. She got the date and handed me the homemade card saying he wanted to go out with me. It was my old twitter friend, Steve, the journalist, aka VodkaPundit. He was young in his black and blue photographs on the card, and he mentioned me by name. I tried to forget most of the disaster, but it began in a sort of house for creeps and only got worse from there. Think X-files, Home: a greasy blonde woman in a dirty shift was crawling after us, and I was busting out of windows. Why we thought we'd be alright on the second date where I was driving a monster truck is anybodies' guess because pedestrians were walking out in front of me, and I had little control. Steve, my co-pilot, was no better. There went a young blonde kid. Oops, after running over the black guy the crowd was after us. I forced myself awake.

Dreams 12/30

Dreamt I was having dinner with my parents in a wharf type of restaraunt surrounded by big windows. I went into the restroom, into a stall, to smoke some pot, and for some reason was lining the floor with paper when one of the waiters, a bald Englishman, had a little porcelain Beatrix Potter character: Johnny Townmouse. He asked if I knew who he was and I said, "Johnny Townmouse." He said, "What does he say when I rub his belly?" I didn't know. "Ten shillings", he answered while rubbing his own tight white vest. Just then a younger man barged in. He seemed to be blackmailing me over something, wanting to go into business with me. I told him my dad and brother were outside, that my cousin was a cop, and the other was a lawyer. Then, I was whisked away by a young woman with curly blonde hair in a convertible. She was involved with my ex, I believe. We got to the estate where I was to be married, and my best friend, Theresa, was there. Now, I was rummaging through the cluttered basement, full of boxes and dust, with the blonde, I think, and my ex, who doesn't really exist as far as I know: a big balding guy with brown hair. I had found my Brooke Shields doll that I was looking for, and the big guy told me to haul up the lantern, which was a big silver thing that I knew flashed a pink light. It looked like a lighthouse light. It was two feet high and heavy, but I managed to drag it up the wooden stairs. Now, I had to get ready for my wedding. The tub had no curtain, so I had to attempt to fasten my curtain, here, with ferns, but it kept coming down, and I had to try to improvise. Theresa was crying, upset about the blonde woman. I told her not to worry about her that she was alright. Something was up with my dress, it was missing. Mummy was saying I could wear my prom dress and hoped it still fit. I was thinking, not. The blackmailer was back to hounding me, and I dressed in a long white cotton strapless nightgown like something out of Shakespeare, a crochet skull cap, and had a peacock scarf, that Mummy had gotten for me, over my shoulders. I had my satin wedding shoes on that I'd dressed with peacock feathers, I'd clipped on. Now, I was about to have to marry the black mailer when some sort of switch occured, and I was marrying the big guy instead.
