Lemonade

I wasn't invited.

I won't cry,

that's not what I do;

I've been making lemonade

since I was new.

The deeper the cut,

the bitterer the pill,

the more I spill.

It's sweeter still.

Lemonade is a balm,

blissful calm.

La La La La La

Lemonade works like a tonic,

supersonic.

Everything is what you make of it,

mix it, turn it around.

catalysts, portents, omens,

fate itself, might be found.

What an insult!

Oh, the sting!

Making lemonade is my thing.

I'll rewrite that,

funny shit, too,

lemonade is what I do.

That was mean,

that was hateful.

I'll savor my long, sweet sip

and be grateful.

The world can be cold,

but lemons are gold.

Make life sweet.

Upon you,

lemons, by the heap.
