From The Black Death

"usury and all commercial ventures were suspect because they assumed control over the future, a mortgage of time which was reserved for God."

"One of the most cogent comments about time was made by the humanist Leon Battista Alberti in his dialogue on family life:

Gianozzo: There are three things which man may say properly belong to him; his fortune, his body, ...

Lionardo: And what may the third be?

Gianozzo: Ah! A very precious thing indeed! Even these hands and these eyes are not so much my own.

Lionardo: Incredible! What is it?

Gianozzo: Time, my dear Lionardo."

Robert S. Gottfried

I had picked up this book at Apple Fest at Joanna Furnace a couple of years ago. I think I've already blogged about it, and I seldom reiterate unless warranted. It was two dollars. Having read all of the plague books except for the latest omnibus that The Great Courses, that I completed, is based upon, I figured it would be samey and nearly passed it up for a bean cookbook, Jack. Kelly's The Great Mortality is my favorite, and I love Follett's novel World Without End. About the first plague book, from 1983, (I thought it was earlier), I mistook that I wouldn't get anything new from it. Wrong! Not only are all of the latter books obviously based upon this relatively short book, but I believe it is more concise. Nowadays everything is fake, phony, made-up, hearsay, and opinionated nonsense. History is "reimagined", but it was always a white man's game. Facts and evidence are scrapped. This book not only thoroughly looks into the origin of the plague, Africa, and Asia, it also calls a spade, a spade. It has no false claims. It calls theories, theories and nonsense, nonsense. It cites sources from the time. I'd call it a Ron Paul among books. It's not to be missed. Will I read the latest gigantic omnibus? Probably, I'm obsessed and always have been. I'll find the time. 🕛

Now For the Good News

Guess who? She was the only likable character in Game of Thrones. She looks like a Gwendoline Christie. I love her. Now they just have to bring Eddie Munson back from the dead, and I'll try to be a good girl. 🤞 I love the latest Skelita. I wonder if there will be more Wednesday dolls. I like the gorgon boy, I'd buy him unless they give him tits. Sick of that. I saw Morticia and the Hocus Pocus witches at the doll show. Ron keeps trying to replace Colonel Klink as the principal of Monster High. That's not happening. I might make a Gwen doll. She's so fabulous. Speaking of fab, Patsy Stone is Grandmama. 🤣

Prims & That

I like some prims like country and rap. I like anything good. Speaking of witch', heartbroken, devastated, and sick over Charlie Kirk. The media must be held accountable for inciting cold blooded murder. It's hate speech, if anything, and these are the most hateful scum on the planet. It wouldn't have happened if he wasn't a Christian. These schools that incite this sort of stuff need to be closed: forty-six school shootings this year. These murders are not happening at the gun range. Goody, here, reminds me to be thankful for what I have. I will be listing some primitives on Ebay. I even had made some DARK SHADOWS ones that have come back to me since some passings, if I can find them. We'll see. I'd forgotten to show you this Stranger Things knit that Frankie is so obsessed with that I gave it to him. I find it outside my door sacrificed like a rat. God Bless Charlie Kirk's dear family. So sad. 🕈

From Starve Acre

"It seemed to Richard sometimes that Juliette had actually brought twins into the world: Ewan and Guilt. The latter had always been the stronger of the two. It fed more, weighed more, demanded more of their attention. When it had outlived Ewan, it had grown larger still."

"It seemed that he'd only come into the world to take their love and fill them with sorrow."

Andrew Michael Hurley

Funny, my book is from the Lancashire library. That's not only where the author is from, but my beloved late friend had sent me a copy of The Lancashire Witches from the museum that I could not put down. I really have to try for a nap and a dream. I'm back to that every three days thrice as much gig. Arthur and Frankie both sleep twice as much as I. TTYL... ✨

Frankie & the Gourds 9/8

Working on It...

I don't know how I got so backed up, but my beloved rugrats do demand 300%...  The seller ended my doll... Oh, hex. Mostly working in my Ebay shop, listing original art, like Dark Shadows...  Waiting for my latest Skelita. Might get the Bootique Hotel sooner than later. Also want a Vermont Teddy Bear ghost, missed him last year. Ron has gotten me three of those, and I love them all: Devil Bear, Vampire Bear, and Irish Bear. Doubt I'll have cloister dolls done for next week. Starve Acre, the novel, is even better than the film. Started that last night, (no sleeping), had to force myself to put it down. Want to finish that at the inn next week. I got a short of Frankie and the gourds. Working on it... Coffee is ready... TTYL... ✨

DARK SHADOWS Original Art Cards Set #2

Arthur & the Doll Show Score

There is Franz! I was so surprised to see him! That's Doll Magic, meant to be. I hope the same happens with Marie, a Monica doll that has surfaced that I've wanted for thirty years. Shop my original DARK SHADOWS art, support my doll habit. Ronnie's suit is soaking in cold water and Woolite. He's a little bigger than Ike, he's Horsman where Ike is Efanbee. I think Efanbees are a bit better quality. There were great deals to be had at this huge show: fabulous! We ate at The Bluebird Inn in Cornwall afterwards, another favorite spot. I had a Buddah bowl to make up for the pizza I shared with Frankie and Arthur for breakfast. I love my Little Dancer paper dolls. I had them when I was three. Sometimes Ron is too good for me. ✨
